What is a workout?
A programmed and planned physical exercise session designed to increase fitness, strength, endurance, and flexibility or achieve specific fitness goals. Exercise selection, sets, repetitions, intensity, rest intervals, and progression are all part of a workout.
Choosing specific workouts or activities that target various muscle groups or fitness components is a part of working out. These forms of exercise can be a combination of stretching and yoga, cardiovascular workouts like jogging and cycling, and resistance training exercises like weightlifting and bodyweight exercises.
Workout exercises in weight training are frequently performed in sets and repetitions. Repetition counts, or reps, are the number of times an exercise is completed throughout a set, which is defined as a certain number of sequential repetitions. Depending on the exercise intensity, fitness goals, and programme layout, different numbers of sets and reps may be used.
What is fitness?
The term "fitness" describes the general state of being physically healthy and fit. It includes several elements that affect one's physical health and the ability to perform physical activity. Fitness includes not just good physical health but also good mental and emotional well-being.
Aerobic exercise
It is a form of physical activity that pushes a sustained rise in heart and breathing rates. It consists of rhythmic, continuous motions of major muscle groups to improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance. The body uses oxygen to create energy and feed the working muscles during aerobic activity. This continuous physical activity stimulates the heart and lungs, increasing their effectiveness in supplying oxygen to the muscles and eliminating waste products like carbon dioxide.

Anaerobic exercise
It is defined as a high-intensity physical activity performed for a short time without using oxygen as a primary energy source. During anaerobic activity, the body's demand for oxygen exceeds the available oxygen supply.
Resistance training
Resistance training, often known as strength training or weightlifting, is an exercise method that uses external resistance to stimulate the muscles to adapt and get stronger. Using free weights, weight machines, resistance bands, or even one's body weight as resistance is standard practice. Muscle strength, power, stamina, and performance are all things that resistance training attempts to improve.
Endurance
In the context of exercises and fitness, endurance refers to the body's ability to maintain a sustained level of physical activity or training for a more extended time. It is the ability to withstand and fend off fatigue while engaging in activities that call for both cardiovascular fitness and muscle stamina.
There are mainly two kinds of endurance:
Cardiovascular endurance: Sometimes referred to as aerobic endurance, it refers to the body's ability to efficiently transport oxygen and nutrients to working muscles through the heart, blood vessels, and respiratory system. Large muscular groups are moved continuously and rhythmically over a lengthy period of time. Cardiovascular endurance is frequently increased by exercises including running, cycling, swimming, and rowing.
Muscular Endurance: The ability of the muscles to carry out repeated contractions for a protracted length of time without becoming exhausted is referred to as muscular endurance. It concerns the muscles' capacity to withstand exhaustion and maintain strength and control when engaging in activities. Bodyweight exercises, circuit training, or high-rep weightlifting are a few examples of activities that are used to build muscular endurance.
Endurance training should complement proper rest and recovery and a well-balanced diet to support your body's energy needs and repair processes.
Hypertrophy
Training for hypertrophy, also known as muscle growth, involves specific exercise techniques and programming to stimulate muscle fibres to increase in size. This type of training is commonly followed by people looking to build muscle mass, improve aesthetics, or enhance athletic performance.
Repetition (Rep)
A single whole workout movement. One bicep curl, for example, or one push-up.
Set
A set of repeated movements performed without rest. For example, performing 3 sets of 10 repetitions of squats means doing 10 squats, resting, and then repeating that sequence twice.
Supersets
(My favourites) Supersets are a training approach involving doing two back-to-back exercises with minimal rest periods in between. The two exercises in a superset usually target separate muscle groups, although they can also target the same muscle group from different angles or with varying movement patterns. Supersets are frequently used to improve training efficiency, push muscles in new directions, and improve muscular endurance.
Intensity
An exercise or training session's amount of effort or difficulty is referred to as intensity.
It is sometimes expressed as a percentage of the utmost weight an individual can lift for a specific exercise (for example, 80% of one-repetition maximum).
Heart rate or perceived effort can be used to determine the intensity of cardiovascular activities.
Higher-intensity workouts often require working at or near your maximum capacity and can be physically and psychologically demanding.
Adjusting elements such as load, pace, resistance, or workout length can all be used to increase or decrease intensity.
Volume
The overall quantity of work completed during a training session or during a given time period is referred to as volume.
It is calculated by multiplying the number of sets, reps, and loads (weights) lifted in an exercise by the number of sets, reps, and loads (weights) lifted in a workout.
The quantity of exercise completed is measured by volume.
Workouts with a higher volume include more sets, reps, or overall exertion.
Volume can also be affected by factors such as exercise choices, rest durations, and training session frequency.
